Cabanda Care Inc is located in Rosewood a regional town located 20km west of Ipswich. Opening in 1987 as a 26-bed hostel, Cabanda was a vision of the local community to provide an aged care facility where people could age in the community they lived in.
Since then, we have grown to include a 71 Bed Residential Aged Care Facility, a retirement village with 42 independent living units, Centre based Respite and Social Care Group, Home and Community Care, Meals on Wheels, Community Transport, and the Cabanda Café.
Cabanda is the largest employer in Rosewood and the vision of Rosewood residents living in a community with those they have known all their lives has been maintained. We are proud to say we are still owned by the local community.

Job Description

An Assistant in Nursing (AIN) is a care worker who, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, delivers direct care within Cabanda’s Residential Aged Care Facility within the boundaries of education and competency.

Core objectives include:

  • Provides and promotes optimal client care, taking into account physical / psychological / social and spiritual needs.
  • Demonstrates competence in assisting residents with activities of daily living by implementing the Aged Care Standards.
  • Follows Care Plan and reports any changes to the RN or designated line manager.
  • Provides accurate and comprehensive documentation within his / her role.
  • Encourages residents to eat and drink sufficient amounts to maintain nutritional and hydration requirements.
  • Provides assistance and encouragement to residents.

Main Tasks:

  • Reports elimination problems to RN and documents accurately at the end of each shift.
  • Under the direction of the RN, performs procedures to reduce pressure over bony prominences for residents at risk of developing skin breakdown.
  • Assist residents to meet oral hygiene needs as required.
  • Ensures that residents with memory loss are assisted with their glasses, dentures, hearing devices etc., and that these items are within reach, clean & in working order as required
  • Ensures that the residents phone calls are responded to promptly
  • Encourages independence in activities of living as appropriate.
  • Observes and protects the client’s right to privacy, dignity and respect.
  • Reports observed changes in client’s current condition to the RN or designated line manager.
  • Participates as a member of a team, to achieve their goal of quality of life for all residents.  This is to include encouraging all residents to assist with their care as much as possible.  To ensure residents are given choices and encouraging them to choose.

Basic requirements:

  • Minimum of a Certificate III qualification in the relevant field
  • Experience within an aged care environment (Preferred)
  • Consent to a background check
  • 2023 Flu Vaccination
  • Minimum of 3 Covid Vaccinations
